HELIX: Model-Harness Co-evolution for Recursive Self-Improvement

Tianyu Fan, Chao Huang

What this work does

Organizes harness candidates and matched outcome records as explicit interventions, producing both deployable designs and provenance-linked training examples for later model updates.

Connection to discovery

A useful data schema for jointly studying harness variation and the model-training data those variations generate.

Evidence

The inspected formalization separates fixed-harness utility, portfolio coverage and oracle routing ceilings; a code-repair case study motivates the interface.

Scope and limitations

Oracle portfolio yield is not deployable performance without a router. The conceptual co-evolution loop and verified data yield should not be mistaken for evidence of indefinite repeated model-harness improvement.
