The Surprising Effectiveness of Test-Time Training for Few-Shot Learning
What this work does
Builds temporary adaptation data from few-shot demonstrations, with leave-one-out tasks and domain-specific transformations, then combines updated weights with prediction aggregation.
Connection to discovery
Suggests testing whether task-local examples support a useful inner-loop objective before introducing a complex RL adaptation policy.
Evidence
Data and optimization ablations separate direct input-output training, context-style tasks, output losses, augmentation and voting; ARC and BBH use different preparation protocols.
Scope and limitations
Labeled demonstrations and task-valid transformations are supervision. Gains combine adaptation, task preparation and inference aggregation, so TTT alone should not receive all the credit.
